The Yemeni Moon Talisman pendant is based on an early 20th century Yemeni silver pendant depicting an Islamic blessing and religious phrases, common of the late Ottoman period. The beautiful crescent from with filigree edging was worn as a protective adornment by the women of Yemen. Yemen was Sally’s home in her late teens and the women’s jewellery adornment became pivotal in her study of anthropology and jewellery from that point forwards.
Each torque and pendant is individually crafted by artisan brass workers from the Kibera shanty town on the outskirts of Nairobi. Kibera brass workers are renowned for the expertise and Sally has been proud to support and work with them for several years.
